Dearest Parent Readers,
As you know, our school, along with all CISND schools, will be focusing on Literacy for the next three years. We have 3 goals: to improve student reading proficiency, to enhance teacher competence and confidence, and to engage parents and educational partners to actively engage in their child's literacy journey.
Parents, on this Family Literacy Day, we would like to encourage you to join our buddy reading book club. The program, started by our Librarian, Miss Robertson, is a program to encourage kids to read more and enjoy chatting about a good book. Students are encouraged to find a buddy and a book at their reading level and grade level. Together, with the same book, the readers find time to connect and read together or enjoy the book at their own time and share their reading experiences. Understanding what they have read is important to Miss Robertson. The bonus, if a book report is written, the students are able to pick a prize for participating. We have multiple copies of books at a variety of levels. If you are interested in buddy reading with your child, write a note to Miss Robertson and she will try and find a matching book, of your child's interest, for the two of you to enjoy together.
Happy Reading!
