“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Good advice, and fitting words for St. Michael’s Catholic School staff and supporters who rallied to raise funds for a new playground.

The East Trail Elementary School recently hosted a lively evening filled with joy and community spirit. School principal Julia Mason delighted attendees with delicious appetizers and fine wines, setting the perfect tone for a night of fun and philanthropy.

The heartwarming turnout showcased the community’s unwavering support for St. Michael’s, and special recognition goes to the dedicated volunteers from the “Friend Of St. Michael’s” (FOSM) group. “I am very proud of the community we live in and your support, ” says Anelda van Staden, FOSM chair. Among them, a standout contributor was fundraiser executive Carey Henry, whose commitment and hard work played a pivotal role in the event’s success.

Laura and Alex Moulton, gracious hosts of the evening and owners of Moulton Designs, traveled from Sparwood, demonstrating their dedication to the cause and generosity that made the gala possible. “The highlight of the evening was a unique signboard painting activity by Moulton Designs, adding a creative touch to the fundraising initiative,” van Staden explains.

In an unexpected turn of events, an exceptional donation for the new playground was made to St. Michael’s by a representative from the Italo Canadese Society. The success of the fundraising evening not only brings St. Michael’s Catholic School one step closer to realizing its dream playground but also highlights the power of unity and community spirit. “A resounding shout out to all who contributed to this memorable evening, making it a testament to the strength of the St. Michael’s community,” adds van Staden.

St. Michael’s is releasing its very own recipe book, compiled by members of the school. The book is up for grabs and will make for a wonderful gift for friends and family.
